(Campanula persicifolia) Bell is a real messenger of summer, it is delightfully beautiful! Perennial unpretentious plant. From the rosette of root leaves in mid-summer rises a slender strong stem 60-100 cm high. Leaves are glossy, with a toothed edge. Flowers are large, wide-bell-shaped, 5-6 cm in diameter, gathered in a loose, clustered inflorescence. Bells shine in blue scatterings in meadows and glades: purple, blue, blue, white. It blooms from June and practically all summer. To preserve the beauty of the flower garden, the inflorescences are cut off. Bells are good everywhere: in flowerbeds, in rabbets, on rocky slides, give an elegant material for cuttings.
Prefers fertile, loose, well-drained soils, develops well in both open and shaded areas. It is mainly propagated by seeds. Seeds can be sown in the fall or spring in the ground or in greenhouse boxes. Seedlings bush quickly, so they are planted in the soil at a distance of 30-35 cm from each other; they bloom in the second year. Further care consists of weeding, loosening and watering. Watering is required only during prolonged heat. After flowering, the plants are cut back.
