(Ammobium alatum) A wonderful dried flower for winter bouquets! This annual plant is 50-70 cm tall and produces numerous flower stalks from a root rosette. Small yellow flowers are collected in inflorescences – baskets up to 2 cm in diameter. Plants are cold-resistant, light-loving and drought-resistant. In cool climates, ammobium is cultivated as a seedling crop. Sowing late March – early April. Sprouts appear 6-8 days after sowing. At the appearance of the first or second true leaflet seedlings pick with a distance of 6-7 cm. Plant seedlings in the second half of May. In southern regions, the crop is cultivated without seedlings (sowing in mid-April). The beginning of flowering comes 60-65 days after sprouting and lasts until frost. Removal of several pedicels and especially the first one stimulates active growth and flowering, the plants become more compact. Used in mixborders, alone on rocky slides. In dried form is excellent for the composition of dry bouquets.
