(Cichorium intybus) A hardy perennial plant. Sow from March to May or from August to September at a depth of 3 mm, in a well-lit place, rich in humus. Requires regular watering in dry weather. Chicory is an herbaceous plant found in temperate and subtropical belts of Eurasia on wastelands, by roadsides, in meadows, that is, almost everywhere. It can be recognized by its straight stem, small toothed leaves and sky-blue flowers. Common chicory (or root chicory), widely used to make a coffee surrogate.
