(Momordica charantia) An annual warm-loving vegetable, ornamental and medicinal crop of the gourd family. The plant is a liana with thin long stems. Fruits are bubbly, oblong-shaped, green when immature and yellow-orange when ripe, up to 25 cm long, weighing 150-200 g. Young, 8-10 day old fruits are used, which should be soaked in cold water, because their flesh is slightly bitter. Momordica salted, pickled, like cucumber, as well as prepared seasonings, salads, can be stewed. You can also grow it as a houseplant.
