(Briza maxima L) Annuals, usually strongly branched from the base, 20-60 cm tall. Leaf blades 0.5-0.7 cm wide. Panicles 3-8 cm long, usually racemose, with only 3-8 spikelets on long and thin stalks, more or less spreading. Spikelets 1-2.5 cm long, with 5-20 flowers, usually brownish-green or partly with a pinkish-violet tinge, slightly shiny. Flowering in late spring – early summer.
