(Paeonia intersectional) Bartzella — intersectional peony (ITOH). Medium-late flowering, lemon-yellow flowers up to 18 cm in diameter, very impressive, with dense leaves and a light aroma. Suitable for , height 80 cm. Ito peonies are the result of crossing herbaceous and tree peonies, a project undertaken by Mr. Toichi Ito (Japan). He did not live to see his varieties registered, but a whole group of peonies bears his name.
These new hybrid peonies are exceptional! They are characterized not only by the delightful color of their flowers, inherited from tree peonies, but also by their abundant flowering, vigorous growth, ease of cultivation, ease of propagation by division, leaf dieback in autumn after frost, and extreme frost resistance, inherited from their maternal side – the herbaceous peony.
Ito hybrids are excellent in landscaping, both in groups and as solitary plants, thanks to their qualities acquired from tree peonies. It is from tree peonies that they inherited stable flower stalks, thanks to which the bush retains its shape and does not collapse under the weight of large flowers. The foliage remains attractive throughout the season until the first frost. Even the first autumn frosts do not significantly affect its attractiveness, unlike herbaceous peonies.
