(Solanum tuberosum) Frieslander is a very early variety, one of the first varieties harvested in summer, and is popular with farmers for its disease resistance, uniform tubers and high yields. The Frieslander potato is named after the northern province of Friesland in the Netherlands and is a popular variety sold in fresh markets for everyday culinary use.

Frieslander potatoes are round or oval tubers with a uniform appearance and blunt curved ends. The skin is semi-smooth, very thin and dense, the eyes are medium-set, the color varies from brown, pale yellow to cream with a few dark brown spots scattered on the surface. Under the thin skin, the flesh is yellow to ivory, firm, mealy and moderately dry. Frieslander potatoes have an airy and slightly crumbly texture when cooked.
